Jonathan Sandridge is an award-winning American graphic designer, an author, photographer, and artist. Education Jonathan attended the Maryland School of Art and Design from 2001-2005. Career in graphic design Sandridge’s first job after graduating was Just Extreme Graphix in Baltimore, Maryland. From there he moved to Revive Media, (Essex, Maryland) followed by Atomik Industries in Baltimore, where he was a Senior Designer. He is currently a Designer at Jager DiPaola Kemp Design in Burlington, Vermont. Sandridge has designed custom typefaces, including “System Hatch”. “Deviant”. He designed the minimalist movie poster for the independent thriller Jimmy Tupper Vs. The Goatman of Bowie. Awards and shows In October 2008, Sandridge won Diesel’s “Wall Project” contest. His entry, an essentially dimensionless stylization of a cheeseburger, titled “The Good Life” adorned one of the outside walls of Diesel’s headquarters. In March 2008 “2015” a mixed-media piece by Sandridge was displayed at Maven, a Burlington, Vermont gallery and boutique, at one of their annual art shows. It was subsequently purchased by a Vermont collector. In April 2009 Sandridge received an Helvetica Award for his "Stick With Whatever Comes Naturally" projection project. Publications and contributions In 2006 he began contributing to Shake Your Bits, a design website founded by Swedish designer and critic Peter Sunna. The website is currently down and it is unclear whether or not Sandridge is still involved with it. He started his personal website in the Fall of 2007, using it to feature both personal and professional work for clients such as Microsoft and Burton snowboards. Later that year he started Standing Thought, a website dedicated to design and art critique. He is a founding contributor to the photography website Observation Project. In 2008 he co-authored ToMe, a privately published book comprising of art, images, and thoughts gathered over an eight month period by a group of designers, artists, and writers. Personal life Sandridge was born in Baltimore, MD and currently lives in Burlington, VT with his girlfriend, the painter Shelly Voorhees, who is a frequent subject of his photography. In 2007 their home in Burlington was featured in a series of advertisements and posters for Burton Snowboards.
