Johnathan D. Mott is the Assistant to the Academic Vice President - Academic Technology at Brigham Young University. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Instructional Psychology & Technology and Political Science and teaches in the Masters in Public Policy Program. Professor Mott works in the field of teaching and learning with emphasis on technology in higher education, learning networks, evaluating learning technology effectiveness, and social networking technology and has authored several publications on related topics, including * Faculty Perceptions of Technology Projects * Mobilized E-Learning: Promoting Quality Learning * E-Learning ROI and VOI * The Value of Teaching & Learning Technology:Getting Beyond ROI He currently heads the Gradebook project at BYU which is considered to be the focal point of all other academic systems to give autonomy and hold together enterprise applications. The Gradebook is based on the idea of being "loosely-coupled" and in an open learning network He also served as a member on the Blackboard Inc. Client Strategy Council and the Adobe Higher Education Advisory Board and is a participating representative for Educause. Professor Mott has served a 2 year full-time volunteer mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan and also runs ThisNation.com which is an online nonpartisan American government and politics website. The website is used by private Utah county-based school Liahona as part of its official curriculum. The site has won several awards such as - "Incredibly Useful Site of the Day" by ZDNet-Yahoo Internet Life, "Site of the Week" by Britannica.com. and "Cool Site of the Day" by Netscape.
