Jon Jafari

Jonathan "Jon" Jafari (born March 24, 1990), more prominently known by his internet pseudonym, JonTron, is an American internet personality. He is known for his webseries of the same name, in which he comedically reviews games of notable negative reception, and sometimes participates in sketch comedy. He is a co-founder of video game entertainment website Normal Boots, which hosts several webseries, including JonTron, PeanutButterGamer and Did You Know Gaming? He is also known for being the former co-star of popular YouTube webseries, Game Grumps.
Early life
Jafari was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He attended Palos Verdes Peninsula High School in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. He also attended California State University Fullerton.
Career
JonTron & Normal Boots
Jafari first joined YouTube on August 31, 2010, creating a channel under the name of "JonTronShow". As a pilot episode for his newly created show, JonTron, he immediately uploaded a two part review of Daikatana, a first-person shooter video game. Soon after, he gained a significant boost in viewership after a fan posted his Dino City review on Reddit, with the description "After watching this, video game reviews aren't really the same anymore." Since then, he has refined his videos, as well as upgraded production value.
Jafari is also the co-creator of the Normal Boots website. Normal Boots hosts the content of several video game webseries, including JonTron, PeanutButterGamer, ContinueShow, ProJared The Completionist, Satchbag's Goodsand DYKGaming. It was eventually closed down in early 2013, and was brought back January 2014, adding several new YouTube channels, including Satchbag and ProJared.
In 2011, he briefly contributed to Channel Awesome, working on subdivisions That Guy with the Glasses and Blistered Thumbs.
He is also a member of Polaris, a company run by multi-channel network Maker Studios.
As of March 9th, 2014, JonTronShow has over 890,000 subscribers, and more than 80,000,000 total views. Jafari and animator , known for creating the Awesome Series, started a joint YouTube channel called "Game Grumps", hosting a show of the same name, Game Grumps. On this show, both Jafari and Hanson played video games that were typically retro or nostalgic in style. In late June 2013, just under a year after the show's inception, Jafari left Game Grumps. In response to his departure, a tribute video was posted on the Game Grumps YouTube channel. Soon after Jafari left, he was replaced by , also known as "Danny Sexbang" of the musical comedy duo Ninja Sex Party.
Jafari has stated he does not plan to return to the show.
Other work
In his early years, Jafari made many flash animations on the website Newgrounds. Jafari has appeared many times as a narrator on the popular internet show Did You Know Gaming?. He also provides the voice of the character Sniperwheel from TOME: Terrain of Magical Expertise, a Flash-animated webseries about a futuristic virtual reality game.
Jafari is also involved in the voice work for Gears for Breakfast's adventure-platformer game, A Hat in Time, currently credited as the Moon Penguins. At the time of this writing, it is unknown whether he will contribute any more voice work to the game.
Popularity
In the video game DLC Quest, in the episode "Live Freemium or Die", a reference to one of Jafari's quotes can be found on a gravestone, reading "Here Lies: Villager Jon (???-2013) Killed by the Creatures. Real Talk? He Wasn't Paying Attention."
