John Whitman

John Whitman is an American novelist and martial arts instructor. He has written many books, and written for other projects such as Zorro (e.g. Witch's Curse) and the Star Wars: Galaxy of Fear series. His most recent books include four novels based on the television series 24, published by HarperCollins. He is also the co-author of the books Complete Krav Maga and Krav Maga for Beginners published by Ulysses Press.
Whitman is a 5th degree Black Belt in Krav Maga, and served as the president of Krav Maga Worldwide from 2000-2007, where he taught civilians, military units, and law enforcement agents. Whitman designed the instructor training program used by Krav Maga Worldwide and served as a lead instructor of that program since its inception. In 2008, he founded Focus Self Defense, and in 2009, became the head of Krav Maga Alliance (www.kravmagaalliance.com), a Krav Maga organization with schools in the United States and Europe.
Whitman attended the University of California, Berkeley, from 1985-1989 and received a B.A. in Literature; he attended Boston University from 1990-1991 and received an M.A. in Creative Writing. He served as the Executive Editor of Time Warner Audio books from 1991 to 1999, during which time, he began his writing career in full.
