Johannes of Habsburg-Lorraine (Johannes Maria Alexander Bertrand Pie Marcus d'Aviano von Habsburg-Lothringen), also known as Archduke Johannes of Austria, born June 1, 1981 in Brussels, archduke, is the great-grandson of Emperor Charles I of Austria, and a priest of the Eucharistein Fraternity. Life Johannes of Habsburg was born on 1 June 1981 in Brussels. Third in a family of eight children, whose parents are Archduke Rodolphe of Habsburg-Lorraine (son of and Archduchess Yolande of Austria) and Baroness Marie-Hélène de Villenfagne de Vogelsanck. His great grandparents are Emperor Charles I of Austria and the Empress Zita of Bourbon-Parma, the last imperial couple of Austria. He spent most of his childhood at the De Diesbach Castle, in the Fribourg village of Torny-le-Grand (Switzerland), in a deeply practising Catholic family. After graduating in Romont, then at St-Michel’s College, he began his studies of economics at the University of St. Gallen. At only 23 years old, he integrated a Paris bank specializing in mergers and acquisitions. But in the back of him, something's wrong. “I had a deep sense of inner lack,” he said. He left the Paris bank after a year to devote himself entirely to another quest: the meaning. His father, committed to Philanthropos Institute of Fribourg, invited him to spend one day on the spot. He then understands even more deeply that his heart is thirsty for Christ and decides to undertake studies at the institute. In 2005, during his curriculum, he had a decisive discussion with his little sister, Marie-des-Neiges, who, at only 17, had a personal meeting with God. From the beginning of his studies at Philanthropos, he approached the Eucharistein Fraternity, based in Valais. He is impressed by fervor, worship, and the welcome of the poors who reigns among his members. He then decided to make a sabbatical year at the Château Rima, one of the three "houses" of the community, in the south of France. In 2011, he returned to the University of Fribourg, until he obtained a Master’s degree in Theology in 2015. His graduation memory is entitled “The divine threat.” Since 2017, Johannes of Habsburg has been a resident of Beauregard Castle, "house" of the Eucharistein Fraternity to Saint-Jeoire-en-Faucigny, in Haute-Savoie. He was ordained a priest on 16 June 2018, at , on the "field of martyrs", right next to the Abbey of Saint-Maurice.
