Philippe Yannick Iwuegbu (born June 11, 1985, Paris, France) is a Nigerian actor, comedian, rapper and songwriter. He is the founder of the Nigerian record label Yannick Philippe Music. Early life and family Philippe Yannick Iwuegbu origiating from Mbano L.G.A, Owerri, Imo state in Nigeria was born on June 11, 1985, in Paris, France. He grew up as part of a big family in Lagos, Nigeria, and was the oldest of six children. His father was an engineer and his mother was a lawyer. As a kid, Yannick Philippe attended Richfield Day School in Oshodi Isolo, Lagos. He continued his education as a high school student at the Christ the King Catholic School in Ogun state, Nigeria. He began his music career by attending late-night music events. Yannick Philippe decided to move to Paris were he gained admission into Eicar Film School, to study Film making and editing ,from where he eventually obtained a degree in Film making and editing Yannick Philippe traveled to London, England to study Acting for TV and Film at the London Media Academy and got a degree in Acting for TV and Film. His mother wanted him to study law, which he eventually did for three years at the University of Gambia, but dropped out in his third year because he was decided to make it in the entertainment industry. Yannick Philippe moved back to Lagos in order to collaborate with a music producer for a single which was later dismissed, because Yannick got a call from a British movie producer inviting him to act in a British movie called "Invisible Men", which won an award at the British urban film festival. Yannick Philippe was the lead actor in the movie and played the character of Okiki. Career Philippe Yannick Iwuegbu began his solo career in 2010 with the release of "Swag on Fire", which also appeared on his debut album, released the following year. His second album, a compilation "Life of Yannick Philippe Vol 1" was released on February 21, 2018. Yannick Philippe gained further visibility through his third studio album The Unknown EP —released in partnership with Notjusok and its lead singer "Sister Rebecca ". He collaborated with the same team for the release of his next single called "Show Dem". In 2018, Yannick Philippe released other singles like "Gini" featuring top Nigerian Hiphop act called Terry tha Rapman , " a remix and reply to Mi-abaga's rappers should fix up their lives ", and "Deep like the ocean ". His work earned him top nominations at the Top Naija Music Award for Best Rap Single at one of Nigerian's Music Award. Yannick Philippe decided to record a new album which will be released in 2019. Yannick has also worked with artists like Terry tha rapman and Pherowshuz, and has also shared stage with Chuddy K and Samklef. He is friends with several rappers of the Nigerian industry, such as AQ and Teckzilla, who also produced a couple of songs with him in London. Yannick Philippe's video for the single "Make I Rap" was shot by Twyse production in London. He has performed on stage both in London and Lagos.
