Joel Micah Greenberg (born February 4, 1984) is a Republican politician who serves as Seminole County Tax Collector since January 2017. Joel Greenberg was elected Seminole County Tax Collector in November 2016, replacing his opponent Ray Valdes, who was in office for 28 years before him. Prior to becoming the Seminole County Tax Collector, Mr. Greenberg ran a successful multimedia company, winning multiple nationally recognized awards, one being the for America’s fastest growing private companies. Mr. Greenberg was born in Altamonte Springs, Florida with his parents and 2 older brothers. Joel Greenberg’s family owns a successful dental practice, , with over 75+ locations placed across Florida. Mr. Greenberg attended Rollins College right before making the move to try out a lifelong dream of broadcasting. Greenberg hosted several AM radio shows on 810am yahoo! sports radio, and 93.1fm CBS sports radio, where the topics of discussion typically involved sports and political banter. Prior to Mr. Joel M. Greenberg taking office in 2016 was 78-year-old, Ray Valdes. Mr. Valdes was elected into office in 1988 and remained in office for 28 years, until the 2016 Republican Primary in a stunning verdict where he was defeated by political newcomer, Joel M. Greenberg. Greenberg received just over 52% of the vote, winning his newly elected position of Seminole County Tax Collector. Joel M. Greenberg is the 5th elected Tax Collector. The Seminole County Tax Collector is one of five Constitutional Officers within the county. There is a unique difference for the Tax Collector’s office from all other county and state agencies; they operate through Florida Statute and agreements with various taxing authorities and state agencies. The services provided by the Tax Collector's office are paid for through legislated commissions and/or fees.
