Joseph Elias Antouri is an American physical fitness and nutrition authority, and the author of numerous articles on physical training, nutrition and bodybuilding. He also serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Private Trainers Association, an organization which trains and accredits health & training professionals worldwide. Born in Lebanon in 1960, his family's Christian background and the turmoil afflicting his native land led a young Joe Antouri to emigrate to the United States, where he eventually gained prominence as a competitive bodybuilder also known for his expertise in the science of sports nutrition. A winner of top bodybuilder championship titles himself -- including Mr. Los Angeles, Mr. California and Mr. USA -- Antouri assembled other prominent physical training specialists in 1980 to establish the Private Trainers Association, an international organization which now has representation in twenty-two countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia. The Association's professional certification program features a curriculum that includes human anatomy, physiology, chemistry, kinesiology, microbiology, nutritional science & diet therapy, sports medicine, all aspects of weight training, and strength training. Specialty education programs and certificates are also offered in the areas of nutrition for elders and those rehabilitating from injuries, eating disorders, or various other medical conditions. Joe Antouri currently resides in Los Angeles, California writing and lecturing on various aspects of physical training and sports nutrition, while overseeing the operations of both the Private Trainers Association and a nutritional supplements company . His textbooks on training and nutrition have been translated into several languages.
