Jody Shackelford

Jody Shackelford is an American born journalist from who introduced the Spring River Survival Guide Magazine into the communities of northeast Arkansas. After working as the head staff writer for his home town newspaper at the age of 21, he left to start and soon became the owner fastest growing publication in the state of Arkansas. Working as the writer, photographer, designer, and distributor, SRSG grew from 3,000 copies at 24 pages, to 10,000 copies at 96 pages, by the 9th issue. He picked up his first camera when he was 16 and by the age of 18 was running a full time portrait studio in Hardy, Arkansas. As a photographer he has shot pictures for the Jonesboro Sun, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, and other regional newspapers. As an advocate for the Spring River area community, he received the Award for Distinguished Service individually and again for Spring River Survival Guide Magazine for community service and support of Thunder on Thunderbird Labor Day Festival by the City of Cherokee Village in 2009.
