Jetphotos.net

Jetphotos.net is an aviation website founded by Chris Kilroy in November 2002. The site is hosted in the USA. It claims to be the largest database of aviation photos in existence, containing over 1.6 million photographs, contributed by almost 10,000 photographers (as at January 2010).
The site features a large photo database, discussion forums, an airliner and airframe database, and spotters logbook, containing records of aircraft observed around the world. Alexa lists the site as being in the top 35,000 websites by traffic. It claims to receive 200,000 hits per day.
History
Jetphotos.net was founded by the founder of Airdisaster.com Chris Kilroy in November 2002. The site initially claimed to have been set up "without standards that cannot be met by anyone other than the professional photographer" (however since its foundation the standards of the site are now thought to be on a par with Airliners.net).
At the time it was criticised by some, who accused Kilroy of plagiarising another aviation website, Airliners.net, due to the initial perception of the site looking similar, albeit in grey rather than blue. However, Kilroy pointed out that the site is actually using the same layout as his previous sites, planespotting.net and trainsim-online.com.

CIA Rendition Flights Controversy
In 2005, photographs from Jetphotos.net appeared in the media in connection with the CIA's Rendition Flights.
In 2011, a group of photographers with photographs on the website, won a court case with the Malta Independent newspaper. The newspaper had published photographs of aircraft in connection with the CIA rendition flights which had been taken from Jetphotos.net without permission.
The court upheld the breach of copyright claim, and ordered the newspaper to pay the sum of 400 Euro to each photographer as compensation.
Features
The photo database contains over two million (as of November 7, 2010) photographs of aircraft, with accompanying information about the aircraft featured in the photographs. The database may be searched by keywords including aircraft registration, line number, location, type of photo, airline and photographer.
The site features a discussion forum, including Aviation Forums, Aviation Safety Forum, as well as Flight Reviews, Photography forums, Videography forums, and an "Off-Topic" forum for discussion of non-aviation topics.
The site offers a census of airframes, containing full fleet information for airlines around the world. There is also a "Spotters Logbook", and an airport database.
