Jessica Nicole Ghawi

Jessica Nicole Ghawi (November 21, 1987 - July 20, 2012) was the first named victim of the 2012 Aurora shooting.
Ghawi, a sportscaster with an active online presence was also in a similar event in a Toronto shopping mall in early June 2012.
Background
Jessica Nicole Ghawi was born on November 21, 1987 in Lansing, Michigan United States.
Ghawi made her way to Denver from San Antonio, Texas. She was studying for the past year at Metro State University of Denver. She worked a variety of sports radio internships to soak in knowledge and find the best path to make a positive impact in the world of sports. Ghawi adopted her maternal grandmother's maiden name, "Redfield", because her grandmother wanted to be in the journalism business, but never was able to. She was also affiliated with the Little Fighter Foundation in San Antonio to assist children who are fighting cancer. When the 2012 Colorado forest fires incinerating many homes in the Colorado Area in a sweep of a flame and People lost everything, Jessica Ghawi Attempted to gather used sporting goods for kids who lost their Goods in the fire but she was unable to accomplish this goal due to the event happend in Aurora, Colorado. Death
Jessica was shot while watching the The Dark Knight Rises at the Century movie theater in Aurora, Colorado with her friend, Brent Lowak. Jessica was shot twice, once in the head and once in the leg. Brent Lowak, administered first aid when he noticed an entry wound to her head and was presented with agonal respiration.
Legacy
A foundation was made in memory of Jessica, called the Jessica Redfield Foundation. The foundation created a scholarship fund to support upcoming young sports talent who want to study journalism. The Donation fund that will kick off the foundation who had a initial goal of $20,000 has been Doubled in less then 48 hrs and to date has $46,414 Raised it appears that the Los Angeles Kings have donated $10,000 to the Foundation Fund.
The Metropolitan State College of Denver is awarding Jessica Ghawi an honorary Bachelor's degree.
The Goalie Guild Founded the The "Redfield Internship Program" an annual internship for aspiring female hockey journalists and writers in dedication of Jessica "Redfield" Ghawi.
