Jeremy Reading (born 18 June 1985 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia) was the winner of the first series of Beauty and the Geek Australia after teaming up with his partner Emma Cam aka Miss Congeniality. His team survived the elimination room on two prior occasions before beating Corin and Lisa in the final elimination quiz to take the title and his share of the $100 000 prize. Jeremy was given the title of Chess Champion during the show, but he was also well known for his skills in balloon modelling. Education Jeremy completed year 12 at Hawker College in Canberra and received a UAI of 99.00. He then went on to complete a combined engineering/science degree at the Australian National University where he graduated in 2008 with first class honours in engineering. Jeremy majored in telecommunications and mechatronics as a part of his engineering degree, and double majored in mathematics for his science degree. He is currently working as a radicommunications engineer. Chess Achievements Jeremy won the ACT junior chess championships in 2004 before stepping up into the senior ranks, winning both the ACT rapidplay chess championships in 2006. and the ACT lightning championships in 2011. He has also helped coached the ACT junior chess team (ACTJCL) at the national championships and also with the ACT junior development squad. Some of his students have gone on to pick up national age titles. Balloon Modelling Achievements Jeremy has been making balloon sculptures since he was seven years old. After his talents were observed on Beauty and the Geek Australia he was asked to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for 'The fastest time to model five balloon sculptures blindfolded'. In January 2010 he narrowly broke the 1 minute and 4 second record held by famous American magician with a time of 1 minute and 3.6 seconds. His record was shown on the Australian television show 'Australia Smashes Guinness World Records' in December 2010. Other Achievements Jeremy has also appeared on the TV gameshow Wheel of Fortune in 2004 and on Australia'a Got Talent in 2011.
