Jennifer Welter Jennifer saved her first paycheck from the National Football League, which she received April 30, 2005. This pay check amounted for $12.00, but it meant much more than that to her. This was her reminder of how much football meant to her. In fact, she still carries it around today motivating others along the way. In a recent ESPN interview, Jennifer explains how " didn’t start playing football to be here, the beauty of this, while it wasn’t a dream could have ever had, now it’s a dream other girls can grow up having"(). With much knowledge and experience in the game of football, she has proven women to be powerful and strong in the athletic world alone. She is not the 1st female to play a dominant male sport; however, she is the 1st woman to play a “contact” position in a male dominant sport. Arizona Cardinals Her coaching style does not differ from many, according to Cardinals' Tyrann Mathieu. In fact, her knowledge for the game and experience has been proven as the Arizona Cardinals enters 2015-2016 NFL season with a record of 3-0. Washington Post most recently added that: "The biggest question coming in was would guys in the NFL respond to a woman coaching them, and the obvious answer is yes" (). Welter has taken on courageous job. She is destined to prove that she is capable to stay in the NFL business and teach the sport she has played herself for 14 years, specifically the linebacker position.
