Jeffrey Welch

Jeffrey M. Welch (born December 21, 1976) was chairman of the Plymouth County Commissioners in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Elected in 2004, by narrowly defeating incumbent Peter G. Asiaf, Jr. by 78 votes, Commissioner Welch is the youngest Plymouth County Commissioner ever elected. He is a graduate of Abington High School and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While at UMass, Welch was active in the Student Government Association, serving in the Orchard Hill House Council and as a Senator representing Orchard Hill. Welch was integral in reviving the University Democrats and was a member of the Pro-Student Caucus.
Prior to being elected to the board of County Commissioners, he was a member of the Abington Zoning Board of Appeals, serving from 1999 - 2005. In January 2008, Welch was elected to a third consecutive one-year term as chairman of the Commissioners.
Welch declined to seek re-election as County Commissioner in 2008. His term expired on January 7, 2009.
