Jeff Leb is an American businessperson, advocate, and political strategist and commentator. He is the former Chief of Staff for New York City Councilman James F. Gennaro as well as a political strategist for the Office of Management and Budget for the City of New York. Leb is currently the President of the Board of Trustees for the Peninsula Public Library and works as the Managing Director of Government and External Relations for the UJA-Federation of New York, the largest local philanthropy in the world. Career Leb began his career working in the Corporate Tax Division of Salomon Smith Barney, working as the liaison between the company and the Internal Revenue Service. While at Smith Barney, Leb volunteered for James F. Gennaro during his run for New York City Councilman. He later became Gennaro's Chief of Staff upon leaving his position with Smith Barney. and in 2013 was elected to serve as President of the Peninsula Public Library. He became the youngest person ever elected to the position, being 34 years of age at the time. In 2012, he took on the position of New York Director of Political Affairs for the Orthodox Union. During his time with the organization, he published numerous op-ed pieces that appeared in the New York Post, the Jewish Press, AM New York, and the Jewish Week. He was also an advocate and lobbyist for the organization. Leb's work has led him to opine on various issues before numerous media and government bodies. He is quoted on issues that include anti-Semitic incidents and has testified in front of the New York State Legislature. His opinions and quotes have been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsday, and The Jewish Star. In 2014, Leb was featured in various publications for an act of kindness by returning a camera that he found on a train.
