Jeb Sprague is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He published his first book in 2012 with Monthly Review Press. Through primary and secondary source research his 2012 book provides a detailed study of contemporary paramilitarism in Haiti. The book has been recommended by two leading academics writing on contemporary Haitian politics, a former first lady of Haiti, a well known sociologist and theorist of globalization, and the investigating judge of the Raboteau massacre (the investigating judge of the first trial in Haitian history that successfully tried and jailed members of Haiti's military and paramilitary forces).
