Jayson A. Altieri

Col. Jayson A. Altieri began his military service in 1984 as an enlisted soldier in the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division. In 1989, he graduated from Norwich University’s Military College of Vermont. In the 1990s, he served in various Army Aviation assignments as a staff officer, platoon leader, and company commander with the 2d Battalion (Airborne), 82d Aviation Brigade, Fort Bragg, N.C., as well as units in Ecuador, Korea, and the Panama Canal Zone.
In 2004, Altieri deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as an operational planner with the Multi National Corps-Iraq, Camp Victory, Baghdad. Following his deployment, he served as the executive assistant to the deputy director of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, Bethesda, Md. In 2007, Altieri assumed command of the 2d Battalion (Airborne), 82d Combat Aviation Brigade in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Following his battalion command, he served in 2009 as the deputy chief of staff for strategic plans, NATO Regional Command (East) in Bagram, Afghanistan. He last served as the Artillery, EOD, and C-IED Standardization Officer for the NATO Standardization Agency, NATO HQ, Brussels, Belgium. He currently serves as the Commander,110th Aviation Brigade, Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Altieri is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, U.S. Air Force School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, and the Air Command and Staff College. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal, French National Defense Medal with Gold Echelon, Polish Silver Army Medal and the Netherlands Nijmegen Medal. Altieri is rated in the OH-58, UH-1, UH-60, TH-67 helicopters and is a Master Army Aviator and Helicopter Instructor Pilot. He has also been awarded the Belgium, Canadian, French, and US Army Master Parachutist badges.
Col Altieri also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Civil Air Patrol Board of Governours, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
Altieri has been a contributing author on defense-related matters to a number of publications including Armor, Aviation Digest, and The Armed Forces Journal.
