Javier Saade

Javier Saade is an American businessman, investor and entrepreneur. He is currently Managing Director of a London & New York-based $2.7 billion alternative investment and private equity firm, The GEM Group, which focuses on acquiring businesses in numerous industries across emerging markets globally.
Born in Puerto Rico of Lebanese, German and Spanish heritage, Saade was one of the founders, early investors and first top executives of Air America Radio (commonly abbreviated to AAR). AAR was the first, and remains the only national progressive talk radio network in the United States of America. The radio shows consist primarily of politically liberal talk, comedy, interviews, guest editorials, listener phone calls, news, and opinions. The network was launched on March 31, 2004 with Al Franken, Lizz Winstead, Chuck D, Robert Kennedy Jr., Janeane Garofalo and Rachel Maddow among its personalities. At its peak, AAR broadcasted its programs in over 90 terrestrial radio stations, XM, Sirius, Real Networks, Bravo, and Sundance. AAR's rise, fall, and resurrection was documented in an HBO film entitled Left of the Dial, which chronicles starting up a nationwide radio network just before the 2004 US election.
Saade has been a manager, consultant and investor and during his career has held positions with Abbott Laboratories, McKinsey & Company, , and Bridgewater Associates. He holds a BS from Purdue University, an MS from Illinois Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
