Jason Noushin

Jason Noushin (born in Plymouth, England in 1969) is an Iranian English contemporary artist. He moved to Tehran at 3 months to live with his aunt, Massoumeh Noushin Seyhoun (1934-2010), an Iranian painter and the founder (1966) of Seyhoun Gallery, Tehran, one of the oldest contemporary art galleries in Iran. He left Iran in 1980. He currently resides in New Haven, Connecticut, in the United States.
He works across various media including painting, sculpture, drawing, and printmaking, exploring contemporary socio-political issues through both the Western representational and Eastern art traditions, using historical events as a point of departure and source material. Oscillating between past and present, Jason Noushin explores the confluences of his bi-cultural upbringing, driven in large part by the geo-political events of the Iranian Revolution and ensuing war with Iraq that forced his separation from his homeland.
