Jared Camp

Jared Camp (born on May 4, 1975 in Huntington, West Virginia) is a former minor league baseball pitcher.
Camp was selected by the New York Mets in the 8th round (304th overall pick) of the 1993 amateur draft directly out of East High School, Huntington, West Virginia. Camp chose to go to college and played for Indian River Community College. He was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 5th round (124th overall) of the 1995 amateur entry draft. He signed with the Brewers and then was traded to the Cleveland Indians. He was then selected first in the by the Minnesota Twins, but was traded to the Florida Marlins in a pre-arranged deal between the two teams for Johan Santana, who was selected second by Florida.
Camp played from 1995 through 2002 in the minors, getting as high as the Triple A level for Cleveland and the Kansas City Royals. He was invited to the major league spring training camps for both the Kansas City Royals in 2001 and the Detroit Tigers in 2002, but was reassigned to the minors before both teams broke spring training camp.
Camp pitched in a total 204 minor league games, completing 64, and compiled a record of 34-36 with 19 saves. In 606.2 innings pitched, he compiled 504 Ks, 286 walks and an overall ERA of 4.50. He last pitched for the Detroit Tigers AA affiliate, Erie Seawolves of the Eastern League in 2002, pitching in 6 games for them with a 0-2 record, 8 IP, 10.13 ERA.
