Japan Ist Weit is a song by German singer Sandra. It was released in 1984 in Germany only as a non-album single. It is a cover version of the Alphaville hit "Big in Japan". It was Sandra's first try as a solo artist after she separated from the trio Arabesque. Unfortunately it was a total flop (only 125 singles were sold). This is the first post-Arabesque song that really started it all for Sandra. Even though it was not a hit, this song led her into the musical direction that she still continues to go into to this very day.
