Janie Diaz

Janie Maria Diaz (born June 25, 1978) is a poet, feature writer, social media marketer, and blogger. Janie is best known for her early work as the co-founder of the Sauce Open Forum magazine and for her early work as a self-publishing poet in the 1990s.
Early Years
Janie was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Cynthia Jane Scott Diaz of Lumberton, North Carolina and Manuel Ignacio Diaz of Matanzas, Cuba. Janie was the second of two children, the older of the two being her brother Antonio Carlos Diaz. By the time Janie was four, the Diaz family was on its way to Dubai, U.A.E. due her father Manuel's career with General Motors. Dubai was the first of many international stops for the Diaz family; by 1986 the Diaz family was off to Antwerp, Belgium, and relocated again to Mexico City in 1987. By 1990, Janie and her family had relocated to Rochester Hills, Michigan where they stayed only for 17 months, relocating in 1992 to Scottsdale, Arizona. Later in college Janie took semesters off to live with her parents each year for four years (2000-2004)in Majadahonda, Madrid, Spain.
Education
Janie began her education at the age of three at the Creative Learning Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Later while living abroad, Janie was educated at private schools, including the Jumerirah American School of Dubai, the American International School of Antwerp, and El Colegio Americano in Mexico City's Distrito Federal. Janie's grade school and high school education once returning to the United States was unremarkable; she attending Long Meadow Elementary School and Van Heusen Middle School in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Cocopah Middle School and Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. Janie graduated one-half year ahead of her class in December 1995 and went on to Scottsdale Community College, and then to Arizona State University where she received and education in English literature and rhetoric and received her BA diploma in 2002.
Personal life
Janie was married to Brett Sollinger in 2004 in San Diego, California. The marriage was short-lived, and the two informally separated in February, 2006. The complete dissolution of marriage was made final in 2007. Janie met Jose Prado in 2006 after moving to the Wilshire District of Los Angeles, California. Janie and Jose moved to Crenshaw Boulevard in the Central Los Angeles Basin in May 2007. In June 2008 Janie and Jose moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, and on August 28, 2008 Janie gave birth to their daughter, Hyzea Alexandra Jane Prado Diaz at Shea North Hospital in Scottsdale. Janie, Jose, and Hyzea currently live in North Scottsdale, Arizona.
Career
Janie started off doing modest work as a barrista in coffee shops in 1994. Some of the coffee shops she worked in her early employment included Java City, Jamaican Blue, the Gold Bar, and Peet's Coffee and Tea. After moving to Los Angeles, Janie worked for the search engine optimization company Submit Express based in Burbank, California. Following this, Janie worked for herself as a freelancer writing feature articles for 944 Magazine, Web content for various clients, and editing for other clients, including Coffman Literary based in Claremont, California. Soon after in 2007 Diaz began working for as a writer, editor, and manager. Diaz continued to work for YA Architecture until 2009, until taking a project management position with Aperion Companies, a subsidiary of Recorp, specializing in green home building and smart homes. currently Janie works as a freelancer under her "doing business as" company (a sole proprietorship).
