January "Jani" Schofield (born August 8, 2002) is an American girl who is considered one of the youngest children to have ever been diagnosed with schizophrenia. She is the subject of a Discovery Health special titled "Born Schizophrenic", and has appeared on several follow-up specials featured on Pysch Week. Diagnosis As a young child, Jani showed signs of great intelligence. The first of her imaginary friends appeared just before her third birthday, and hundreds more have appeared since, including animals, numbers and people. All of these imaginary friends live in a world Jani calls Calalini, and order her to do things such as harm herself or family members. As Jani began to display episodes of violence and psychosis, which she claimed to be encouraged by her imaginary friends, her parents took her to see psychiatrists. She was eventually diagnosed with severe child onset schizophrenia at the age of six. Family Jani has a younger brother named Bodhi Keith Schofield who was born on December 17, 2007. Bodhi has been diagnosed with severe autism and intermittent explosive disorder, and experiences episodes of self-harm. The children's mother is convinced that Bodhi will eventually receive a schizophrenia diagnosis like his sister Jani.<ref name="medicaldaily"/>
