Rev. Lord James Theobald Bagot John Butler was born on 24 August 1852 in Kilkenny, Ireland and died on 16 June, 1929. He was the fourth son of John Butler, 2nd Marquess of Ormonde and Frances Jane Paget, daughter of General Hon. Sir Edward Paget, GCB (son of ) and Lady Harriet Legge. As the son of a Marquess, he was entitled to the honorary prefix 'Lord' and was known as Lord Theobald Butler. He graduated from Cambridge University with a Master of Arts (M.A.). During the period between 1898 and 1923, he was Rector of the Parish of Ulcombe in Kent. He married Annabella Brydon Gordon, daughter of Reverend Cosmo Reid Gordon. Lord and Lady Theobold Butler had five children: * James Walter Theobald Gordon Butler (b. 19 May 1886, d. 2 May 1945) * Violet Mary Emily Maud Butler (b. 22 Apr 1889, d. 30 Sep 1973) m. Ronald Victor Hart-Synnot * Sybil Frances Christina Lilah Butler (b. 10 Feb 1891, d. 11 Jul 1970) m. Arthur Francis Henry Edwardes (her first cousin) * Victoria Blanche Constance Theodora Butler (b. 28 Sep 1897, d. 15 Jun 1952) m. Charles Bellville West * The Most Hon. James Hubert Theobald Charles Butler, 7th Marquess of Ormonde (b. 19 April 1899, d. 25 October 1997) Lord Theobald Butler died on 16 June 1929 at the age of 76.
