James Guy Calvert -(aka Jamey Calvert) b. 29 November 1957 - Charleston, South Carolina. An avid world traveler known for his insightful and often humorous writings on international culture and human emotion. In late 2002 Calvert befriended and began collaborating with French existentialist Denis Boucher. Boucher's influence fostered Calvert's belief that the universe has no intrinsic meaning or purpose. Calvert credited Boucher with the concept that he and his characters must take responsibility for their own actions and that those actions ultimately shape their own destinies. In a departure from pure existential thinking, Calvert and Boucher surmised that an individual’s development was influenced in large degree by family, religion and government. This theory, dubbed "The French Connection" by Calvert and Boucher, is widely recognized as one of the first that acknowledges an association between philosophy and psychology. Calvert's screenplays include "The Dying" and "The Picnic", the latter a study in the interaction of family and culture confronting prejudices and insecurities.
