James B. Golden

James B. Golden is most famous as the author of the award-winning poetry expository Sweet Potato Pie Underneath the Sun's Broiler. (iUniverse, 2008)

Golden was born on April 26, 1985 in Salinas, California to Valerie and James W. Golden.

He received a Masters in Public Administration as well as a B.A. in Pan-African Studies Arts and Literature from California State University, Northridge.

He received the distinguished Langston Hughes Literary Award from California State University, Northridge Pan-African Studies Writing Program in 2008 for his book Sweet Potato Pie Underneath the Sun's Broiler.

Golden is a hard-hitting journalist/essayist known for his Black-Male-Feminist framework. He is the editor of the Hip Hop Think Tank Journal and Kapu-Sens Literary Magazine. Golden is the featured writer on The Golden Machine, focusing on popular culture and the Hip Hop Generation.

He was recently featured in Say It Loud! Newspaper as part of the Los Angeles Area's "30 Under 30".

Golden is well-known as a presenter at the National Council for Black Studies Conference as well as the National Hip Hop Political Convention.

He currently lives in Woodland Hills, where he works as a unit coordinator and literary magazine editor for a private non-profit treatment facility for teenage boys.
