Jamaica plain music festival

The JP Music Festival is a free annual music festival held in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. The inaugural event was August 20, 2011. The festival was produced by famed singer-songwriter Rick Berlin and talent booker Shamus Moynihan. Two performance stages were located on the historic Pinebank Field near Jamaica Pond. The first event was attended by 1,000 people . The festival featured more than twenty music artists and bands whose members live or work in Jamaica Plain including Lenny Lashley of Darkbuster, The Chris North Dream Quartet and The Needy Visions of The Whitehaus Family Record, Brief Awakening, Shepherdess, The Nickel & Dime Band, Erin Harpe & The Delta Swingers, Timinandi, Mr. Sister, and Coyote Kolb, as well as a guest appearance by Gordon Gano of The Violent Femmes, who has a relative who lives in Jamaica Plain. Jamaica Plain is home to hundreds of music artists who tour the US and world, along with an active music community including recording studios, performance spaces, and music bloggers. The JP Music Festival is a registered non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and held fundraising events leading up to the inaugural festival and are planning additional events in Jamaica Plain throughout the year.
