Jak Alnwick (born 17 June 1993) is an English football player who currently plays for Gateshead,on loan from Premier League side Newcastle United. Playing career The younger brother of Tottenham goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, Hexham-born Jack is making a name for himself with Newcastle having joined United from Sunderland in 2008. An England under-18 international, Alnwick saved a penalty in United's FA Youth Cup fourth round tie against Grimsby at St. James' Park in January 2011 and made his Reserve team debut in October 2009 at Middlesbrough.He also starred in the FA Youth Cup run of the previous season, where United reached the semi-finals, and he ranks that as his best footballing memory. A brave keeper who is a great shot-stopper and hates conceding goals, Alnwick believes you should never give up. His football idol is Pepe Reina and Steve Harper, who he regularly trains with, is his Magpies favourite. He joined Gateshead on Septmber the 8th for one-month. Gateshead (loan) On 8 September 2011 Alnwick joined Gateshead,on loan initially for one-month.He made his debut in 2-3 home defeat against Southport.Alnwick made his second appearance in the 1-2 away win against A.F.C. Telford.He made his third appearance in the 2-2 draw against Braintree Town.He made his fourth appearance in the 1-1 draw against Alfreton Town.Alnwick made his fifth appearance for Gateshead in the 1-1 draw against Fleetwood Town.His made his sixth appearance in 1-1 draw against Mansfield Town. Personal life His older brother Ben, who is also a goalkeeper, currently plays for Tottenham Hotspur,Jak was at the Prudhoe local youth clubs and then Sunderland youth academy but joined North East rivals Newcastle United as a first year scholar in 2008. Jak won Newcastle's "Wor Jackie" award (named after legend Jackie Milburn) for best under-18 player in 2011.
