Max Johnson

Max Johnson (born Norwich, 21st May 1991) is a second year academy scholar at Newcastle United.

Johnson, a goalkeeper, signed for Newcastle in September 2007 from Bury, where he was about to embark on the first year of his youth scholarship, and has previously played at Centre of Excellence level for Burnley. Other clubs to have taken an interest in Johnson include Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, both of whom took Johnson on trial whilst he was still at school.

Schooled in Blackburn after moving north as a youngster, the young stopper made his first appearance in a senior matchday squad when he was named as the substitute goalkeeper for Newcastle's reserve game at Bolton in March 2008.

He missed much of the 2007/08 season after sustaining a knee injury on his debut for the Newcastle academy side.
