Jacques Abramoff (1927-1997) was a businessman, philanthropist, and inventor born in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). After the Communist Revolution, the Bukharan Jewish Abramoff family moved to Paris, France and, starting from the ground up with five grocery stores in 1932, quickly built their own wholesale company, specializing in the importing of dried fruit, vegetables, cheese, rice, cereals, olives, spices and tea from all over the world. Jacques Abramoff was a Monaco businessman with wide-ranging interests, including the shoe polish industry, plastic and chemical products, knitted clothes, and natural foods. He was also a supporter of the French Chabad organisation, and President of the Monaco Jewish community. |
