John "Jack" Truman (b. 14 August 1965, in Pekin, Illinois) was the Democratic candidate for Missouri's 7th Congressional District in the 2006 election, and ran against high-ranking Republican Roy Blunt. Even though almost all of his beliefs our liberal he supports the right to bear arms. Truman was easily defeated, receiving 30.1% of the vote. Truman is the great-nephew of former president Harry Truman. After graduating from high school, Truman entered the military. He served for 5 years and then attend Missouri Southern State College, earning a business degree. Soon afterward, Truman became a professor at Texas A&M University, holding this position for two years, before entering his current job as an independent film producer.
