Biography

Stried, who grew up in Marion, Ohio, is the middle child of three children. He attended Marion Pleasant High School where he starred for the Spartans in both football and baseball. During his tenure as starting quarterback for the Spartans, he directed them to a record of 29 wins and one loss in the regular season. In his final two seasons Stried was an amazing 20-0. The post-season is something we would rather not mention.

After High School, Stried attended Bluffton College in Bluffton, Ohio where he majored in computer science and secondary education. He was also a pitcher on the baseball team and a one-year starter for the Beavers football team. In college, Stried fashioned a 108.74 efficiency rating and his single-game rating of 148.6 against Mount St. Joseph in 1997 is the ninth best in Salzman Stadium history. After college, Stried worked as a substitute teacher and then as Sports Information Director at his alma mater where he oversaw all 16 varsity sports. During this time, Stried overhauled the sports website and produced all athletics communications pieces, including media guides, pre and post-game communications, hometown news releases and weekly features for the Bluffton news. He coordinated all statistics, photography, media coverage, sports advertising and was a national publications contest coordinator for CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Stried also served as the college’s yearbook advisor for the past four years and was Bluffton’s interim director of news service from March through May of 2001. In addition to his duties as an SID Stried, noted for his rocket arm, coached the wide receivers for the Bluffton football team for four years because of the amazing passes he could throw them. Upon getting engaged to his current wife Anna, a high school Algebra teacher at Buckeye Valley High School, Stried left his coaching position at Bluffton and then eventually accepted his current position at OSU.

Known for keeping meticulous statistics and producing nearly flawless press releases, Stried works mainly on men’s soccer, gymnastics, fencing and softball at Ohio State. He also contributes to the football and basketball duties. Teams under Stried’s care have had an extremely high win percentage since he has taken over.

Stried is most well-known for the production of his Hall of Fame worthy, spiral-bound, post-season 2007 softball and soccer press releases.

An avid Reds and Bengals fan, Stried also enjoys all James Bond movies. He attributes his love for 007 to his father who also idolized Bond.

One time when Stried was in need of coffee, he drove nearly thirty minutes out of the way to find a Starbucks, while passing several other coffee shops along the way. He is also a big Yuengling Lager fan, noting that it makes him happy to see the Pottsville, PA brewed beverage on tap at the bar.

By Stried’s own admission, his wardrobe largely consists of OSU merchandise. He admits to owning 15 OSU polos, 15 OSU T-shirts as well as 4 pullovers and jackets. He also has red shoes he has deemed to be lucky.

When in need of transportation, Stried turns to his red Ford Explorer.

Stried’s younger brother, a pitcher for Division III Ohio Wesleyan University, is noted for being the winning pitcher in the first game of Bill Davis Stadium’s history where Ohio State calls home.

In 2007, Stried gave a key note speech entitled “I Can’t See Anything from This Pressbox” at Bluffton University.

He is not only amazed by, but he is amused by the product “Whizzer Cleaner and Supplement.” This products ability to eliminate even the AIDS virus from wrestling mat floors is a point of hilarity.

It is rumored that Stried enjoys working out during his lunch hour.

If Buckeye Bux were legal tender, Stried would be the world's richest man.

Tim is noted for his rendition of "Ice Ice Baby"...He can be hired for weddings and bar mitzvahs.
