J-Core

is a Japanese subgenre of Hardcore Techno music, which also draws elements from other electronic styles, such as UK Hardcore,Mákina, Gabba/Gabber, Happy Hardcore, hardstyle, trancecore/freeform hardcore, Speedcore, Breakcore, and so on.. The genre is sometimes known for having fast and high bass factors. It has some origins stemming from Otaku subculture, and the music frequently incorporates samples from Anime, Videogames and Idol J-pop music.
Most J-Core is released in a fashion.
Some songs appearing in the Beatmania IIDX rhythm video game could be said to be J-Core.
History
In the mid/late 90s, some Japanese DJs began incorporating samples from Otaku culture in their songs. Some of these older DJs, like C-Type, DJ Sharpnel and m1dy, released their songs on during Doujin events like Comiket.
J-Core events, featuring many artists performing live, have been common since the genre's beginnings.
This genre, containing a mix of hard electronic music and Otaku subculture-related samples, was seen as totaly different from normal Hardcore Techno and thus branded "J-Core" by foreign listeners (Using the J-pop and J-rock genres as an example for naming it). This term is now used in Japan as well.
