IWatch

The iWatch is a smartwatch under development by Apple Inc. In February 2013 there were leaks from Apple that the watch was under development. One of the key components for the watch is a flexible glass that can be shaped to a human wrist. This product (known as Willow Glass) has been under development by Corning Inc. since the early 2000s, and they have stated that the technology will not be ready for an application like an iWatch until at least 2015.
Development
In February 2013 The Telegraph reported leaks from an anonymous source that a "team of 100 Apple staff - headed by senior executives" were working on the project. These leaks were interpreted to mean that the watch was "beyond the experimentation phase". Apple has discussed manufacturing the product with Hon Hai Precision Industry. The Telegraph later reported that Corning Inc. (the makers of the Willow Glass) said while it could be used to make something similar to a watch, Corning also makes the Gorilla Glass that is used in Apple's smartphones and iPods. The development of the Willow Glass has been ongoing for Corning for over ten years.
Product description
It is speculated that the iWatch will have a touchscreen made of Willow Glass; Willow Glass is a flexible glass product manufactured by Corning, the supplier for Apple's smartphones.<ref name="not ready for prime time" /> The flexibility would allow the touchscreen to be curved rather than flat. The watch would be able to connect to an iPhone, which would allow the user to access their phone via the watch. The iWatch would run on iOS and use Siri, Apple's virtual assistant.<ref name="into production" />
