Ivar Damian is an Icelandic-Canadian musician featuring two distinct projects: a) a mixture of electropop, EBM, and industrial music and; b) traditional jazz music. History As a child, Ivar rummaged through his grandfather's electronic equipment. Ivar and his grandfather created electronic devices to learn about creativity & music. Ivar salvaged his grandfather's reading library and his audio tapes featuring traditional jazz & classical music after his grandfather died. As a youth, exposure to art, music, literature, film, comic books, science fiction, nordic & celtic mythology kindled a lifelong appreciation for science and the arts. Later, he learned vocals and upright bass guitar accompanying a piano player, he excelled in visual arts, receiving awards for his work. Faint shortwave radio transmissions from distant lands exposed Ivar to different musical genres, prompting him to learn drums, guitar and keyboards. As time passed, he performed in speed metal, electronica, goth, art-rock and jazz bands. Ivar evolved into a disciplined man who appreciated balance in life with academic interests in visual art, robotics, philosophy and neuroengineering. Ivar also observed an emerging societal & technological convergence as Western culture declined from its golden years, towards a darker, uncertain future. Two decades of influences were now the foundation for his future musical projects. Blinded in his final year of university, Ivar's injuries were deemed permanent. Bedridden in solitude and darkness for one year, Ivar resolved to return to music. Ivar astonished physicians with a full recovery and he aggressively rebuilt his life. In 2005, he released a 3-song demo CD. Following a positive response in Germany, his long awaited debut full-length April 2009 EBM CD will be followed by a side-project, a jazz ensemble with a debut CD in late 2009.
