Clara Meadmore (born October 10, 1903, Glasgow, Scotland) is a British centenarian who achieved celebrity in England on the eve of her 105th birthday when it was learned that she was a virgin. She said the secret to long life was celibacy, adding that she imagined sex was a “lot of hassle”. Meadmore's family emigrated from Great Britain when she was seven, first to Egypt, then Canada and later to New Zealand. She returned to the United Kingdom alone in her twenties and worked as a secretary and housekeeper.
