Italian American Network

The Italian American Network (I A NET) plans to soon launch a 24-hour high definition TV channel on cable, satellite and telephone company systems throughout the United States. Currently, the Italian American Network is available on the Internet, featuring short-form video "webisodes" about all things Italian and Italian-American. I A NET content is also available via podcasts, and the network plans to provide content to consumers anywhere and anytime on all other forms of media including mobile/cellular, video-on-demand, print and radio.

History

On January 15, 2008, the online broadband channel launched via the Internet as the company's first media platform, providing viewers worldwide with new videos daily featuring a variety of Italian and Italian-American themed entertainment. Following the Italian American Network's upcoming U.S. domestic TV channel launch, international distribution of the network is also planned.

Target Audience
The Italian American Network's primary target audience is adults 18-54. The Italian American Network secured numerous endorsements from national and local Italian American organizations (including the National Italian American Foundation, Order Sons of Italy in America, and Columbus Citizens Foundation), government officials, and the business community. The company's literature cites independent market research which confirms the substantial audience appeal for this network, including the enthusiastic support of 26 million Americans of Italian ancestry and 69 million "Italophiles" who are not of Italian ancestry but are self-proclaimed devotees of all things Italian. As stated on the company's web site, there is no other cable channel in English that focuses exclusively on Italian and Italian-American culture, fashion, travel, art, history, and entertainment. Some cable systems import a channel from Italy that airs in Italian and thus eliminates from its audience the vast majority of Americans - even most (92.4%) Italian-Americans - who do not understand the Italian language.
