IT Tower

IT Tower is a building currently On Hold in Karachi, Pakistan. It is located at University Road, on which a completed Hassan Square flyover will form the main connection to the complex. The proposed covered area is approximately 2.7 million square feet spread over 47 floors.
The tower is a mixed-use development on land measuring which will be an eco-friendly building consisting of a shopping center, food court, four cinema multiplex, 2100 parking spaces, 260-room hotel, 10,000 seat fully equipped call centre and office floors. Other facilities include an automatic car parking ramp and a swimming pool.

IT Tower is being built at an estimated cost of around US$ 200million in Karachi, the financial capital of Pakistan. When completed, it will be the country's tallest building and have space for 10,000 call center seats.
The city government and a consortium of three international firms belonging to Malaysia, India and the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement for constructing the 47 story IT Tower. Having a total covered area of , has been constructing on a huge vacant plot of Gulshan-i-Iqbal adjacent to the Civic Centre by using solar panels for generating 1.2 megawatts of electricity during the daytime.
The agreement to this effect was signed by City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on behalf of the city government while Mr Dato Goh Chye Koon, Mr Rakesh Gupta and Mr Sarfraz H. Rizvi signed it on behalf of their firms IJM Corporation Berhad Malaysia, Astra Netcom Ltd and Malpak Ltd, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, the city nazim said that the gigantic project which was expected to be made operational in two years would bring economic revolution in the city as it would, on the one hand, make available IT infrastructure and human resources and, on the other, would help provide 40,000 jobs to the educated youths.
IT Tower would have wireless internet access in its campus with satellite and terrestrial links for voice data, video-conferring and connectivity with worldwide customer workstations.
According to Mustafa Kamal, Nazim of Karachi, 60% of the call center capacity has already been booked up by various companies.
The project would have 10,000 call centers, parking facilities for 2,100 cars on its five floors, city government offices on five floors and many other facilities as well.
Highlighting the salient features of the project, Astra Netcom’s director (operations), Mr Sahil Vachani, said that the 47-storeyed IT Tower and Call Centre which would meet its 25 per cent power requirement through solar energy would be Pakistan’s first `intelligent’ and `eco-friendly’ building consisting of most modern shopping centers, food court, a health centre, library, four mini cinema halls, a 50-room hotel, club house, swimming pool, offices and 10,000 call centers and an auditorium for 800 people.
Call center
The IT Tower introduces the concept of a fully functional Call Centre, the first of its kind in Pakistan. The developer will set up the entire Infrastructure to operate a call center (Technology Equipment, Computers, etc.). This would then be leased out to customers willing to operate a call centre and provide them with a ‘plug and play’ model. Apart from providing the technology and equipment infrastructure along with furniture and fittings, the developer is also going to provide trained work force for the clients.
This concept is being promoted very strongly by the CDGK as well since it is seen as a tool to transform the industry in Pakistan. The offices and Call Centers will occupy a total area of and will be spread over 32 floors. The total number of Call Center seats is proposed to be 10,000.
Offices
The Tower complex is designed to create State of the art offices fully equipped with technology, which will ensure that all users are ‘Online’ as soon as they move in. Multinationals and leading local firms are target customers and there is a huge demand for this keeping in view the present supply and demand scenario in Karachi. The office users will have direct lifts for them to travel avoiding the retails and shopping crowds.
There are 12 lifts handling the call centre and office users with a multi zoning concept to minimize the traveling time for the users. It is design to have a maximum waiting time of 30 second which is being introduced in Karachi for the first time.
Multi-storied car park
One of the major issues in a growing and developing city is the availability of Car Parking Space. This problem is especially evident in the city of Karachi. The IT Tower will be the only complex in the city to offer a car parking facility for 2100 cars spread over 3 Basements and 10 floors of elevated structure.
The elevated car park building is further enhanced with the service of lifts serving the building users to efficiently go shopping, working or attend conferences / seminars.
Banquet and seminars
The banquet hall with the 1000 seating capacity is located on the 16th floor of the Tower. It is facilitated with the kitchen, and additional smaller size seminar rooms.
With elevated car park under this floor, the guests will have the convenient to park cars and attend various functions suitable for corporate and business market during day time or the Pakistan’s favorite wedding ceremony or Dinner function at night.
260-room hotel
IT Tower introduced the first of its kind "sky hotel" where the lobby is located on the 35th floor. Surrounded with the open sky garden concept, the hotel tenants and public can enjoy the magnificent view of Karachi day and night. The open areas have specialty restaurants with option for open or close dining arrangement, coffee house, and lounge.
The hotel will have dedicated lifts from ground floor avoiding crowd from the shopping and office users. The hotel rooms will have views of Karachi city, making it very attractive for the foreign and local guests
Shopping complex
One of Karachi best shopping complex will be located in the IT Tower; Karachi spread over 4 floors with 1 anchor tenant e.g. Giant or Tesco. This concept would be introduced in Pakistan in a big way through the IT Tower. The shopping center shall provide direct access from the parking area for all visitors. 6 lifts in the center core and escalators within the retail floors are also being provided for easy movement for shoppers.
A curve layout is designed in the retail areas to give different ambient and convenient of movement and having better view for people to shop.
