iPhony is a launcher program for the Palm OS operating system released by SimToGo and announced on multiple Palm software forums and blogs. The interface is a simple simulation of the Apple Inc. iPhone interface introduced at the 2007 Macworld Conference & Expo. Installation is intended for smartphones and other Palm-based cell phones such as the Treo 650. By touching icons copied from the announced iPhone interface, the user can launch one of the programs installed on the phone that was preset to that icon. Shortly after its release, lawyers representing Apple began sending cease-and-desist letters to websites distributing the software as well as sites found to be linking to distribution sites. Lawyers for Apple claim that the company owns the copyright for design of the iPhone's user interface, and will legally protect their design from being used without permission.
