Production
Antony Lane first came up with the idea of Invasion of the Not Quite Dead during his final year of film school, with the intent of making the movie into a trilogy. He attempted to raise money for filming via the Internet, eventually managing to raise enough money for the film in 2009 to begin filming in 2011. Principal filming took place in Samokov and Despie in Bulgaria and in Kent during April 2011. Wheatus and MC Frontalot both contributed music towards the film's soundtrack.
Release
As of October 2009 the film is still in pre-production, but a teaser trailer was shown at the Welsh Abertoir film festival on November 7, 2009 and a further teaser trailer was released on YouTube after the principal filming in April 2011.
The film is expected to be released in 2012.
Marketing
The film has been entirely funded by social network crowd-sourcing. In essence the films greatest marketing has been in its unique (for its time) funding methodology. Antony Lane's primary marketing tool has been Twitter and as well as fund raising he has executed several 'Twitterthons' whereby he has stayed awake for extended periods of time just fund raising on Twitter.
