International Bridges to Justice

International Bridges to Justice (IBJ), is a non-profit organization working with criminal justice systems starting in China, Vietnam and Cambodia, Africa and Latin America. Karen I. Tse founded IBJ and she is currently the CEO at IBJ's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Founded in 2000 as the collaborative result of interested lawyers, academics, and business leaders, IBJ promotes the rule of law, good governance and equitable legal rights for all citizens by trying to ensure the effective implementation of existing criminal defense, justice and human rights legislation.

IBJ works to strengthen the practical skills of public defense lawyers, to improve legal aid and public defender infrastructure and to increase the awareness of basic legal rights and processes among ordinary citizens.

This means training public defense lawyers; providing practical “how to” manuals and website resources; mentoring individual defenders through specific cases; providing offices and equipment; organizing promotional campaigns aimed at ordinary citizens; and running awareness campaigns with prosecutors, judges and police.
