InterMat

InterMat intermatwrestle.comis the official media web site of the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The association bought the website from founder and Iowa native Tom Owens in 2004. InterMat provides results, news, rankings and coverage for all levels of amateur wrestling, specifically focusing on high school and collegiate wrestling. The NWCA has been around since 1928 and has been a leader in promotion, protecting and advocating the sport of wrestling.

Since 1999, the NWCA, with InterMat as its major media backing, has been involved with many of the 55 new or re-instated wrestling programs Link To Added Wrestling Programs.

The site has been the leader in breaking national wrestling news.

InterMat has twice been named the National Wrestling Media Association's Wrestling Web Site of the Year, first in 2001 and again in 2006.

The site was opened in 1997 by Owens and has had two webmasters in its 10-year existence. Owens ran the site from 1997-2004 before stepping down and the NWCA hired Old Dominion University graduate and former Daily Press (Newport News, Va.) wrestling beat writer Jason Bryant to run the site.

Bryant has also been named W.I.N. Magazine's Journalist of the Year and the Amateur Wrestling News Bob Dellinger Award Winner in 2007 all for work done while at InterMat.

InterMat is the official source of the NCAA Division I USA Today Wrestling Coaches Poll (Top 25) as well as the official source for the InterMat/NWCA/NWMA Division I Individual Rankings. InterMat also distributes the NCAA Division I rankings to hundreds of media outlets, the Associated Press, and all major sports networks on a weekly basis, including ESPN, CBS and the U.S. Olympic Committee.
