Instana

Instana is a SaaS-based application performance management (APM) platform based in Chicago, Illinois and Solingen, Germany which allows the customers to auto-discover their IT infrastructure and applications, visualize dependencies and issues and get automated analytics and alerts on their data. It automatically brings together data from servers, databases, applications, tools and services, from legacy monoliths or modern containerized microservice stacks, to present a unified view of the applications and provides a holistic view in the cloud or on-premises.
Instana's distributed tracing works with most programming languages and supports the OpenTracing, OpenCensus and W3C Trace Context standards.
History
Instana was co-founded by Pete Abrams, Pavlo Baron, Fabian Lange and Mirko Novakovic in April 2015. Abrams has been an early employee of AppDynamics, while Baron, Lange and Novakovic worked for codecentric, a German software and APM consultancy.
Instana was named "Cool Vendor in Availability and Performance" by Gartner in 2016 and received $6 million in a Series A investment from Target Partners. In 2017 Instana received $20 million in Series B investment led by Accel Partners with participation from Target Partners. In 2018 Instana received $30 million in Series C investment led by Meritech Capital Partners with participation from Accel and Target Partners.
Instana currently serves hundreds of customers, including Edmunds.com, Audi, Takeaway.com, Sixt and DB Schenker
