InnovativeCommunities.Org Foundation has been a Canadian registered charitable organization since 1998 and has over $3,000,000 (approx) in gross assets. The greatest resource of all are the dedicated volunteers of ICO drawn from all backgrounds and communities around the World who want to make a real difference and build innovative sustainable communities Worldwide. ICO and partners have initiatives and projects in Canada, Guatemala, Uganda and Zambia as well as presences in Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
ICO is a cyber-network utilizing chaordic concepts, with a concept of a world-wide community working together as friends and volunteers. All administration and management within ICO is undertaken by volunteers using the ICO Online Office (ICOOO) which means minimal overheads (less than 5%) and greater efficiencies. 100% of donations given to ICO go to people and projects directly with no deduction for overheads and administration. ICO strongly believes in being accountable to the World they serve and are pleased to be one of the first (if not the first) organization in history to put their accounts live online for all to see in real-time and as transparent as technologically possible. History
The Foundation, under it's original name of Canadian Housing Research Foundation was incorporated as a British Columbia, Canada Society and registered as a Canadian Charitable Foundation in 1998.
In May 2005 the Canadian Housing Research Foundation was re-organized by incorporating cyber chaordic organizational concepts and people from HumanHorizons.Net to become Canadian Community Housing Foundation.
The constitution was modified and broadened in January 2008 and the name was changed to reflect that to InnovativeCommunities.Org
Purposes and Mission
i) to relieve poverty by
- researching, modifying or developing innovative methods to provide the poor with the necessities of life and disseminating the results of such research to the public.
- using innovative methods to provide the poor with the necessities of life.
ii) to advance education by
- researching, modifying or developing innovative methods to enable children and adults to learn and disseminating the results of such research to the public.
- providing scholarships, tuition, supplies and other necessities for students to attend school.
iii) to carry on ancillary and incidental activities that further these charitable purposes.
Activities
ICO World Communities works within a matrix of ICO Communities and ICO Centres, develops and makes operational ICO Initiatives and Projects which have been researched by the ICO Institute (Research Centre). The focus is to build innovative sustainable communities.
ICO Institute ICO Initiatives and Projects are researched by the ICO Institute (Research Centre) and developed and made operational by the ICO World Development Team working within a matrix of ICO Communities and ICO Centres.
The ICO Institute acts as the research and conceptual power house of ICO. The Institute is responsible for researching and developing sustainability, global friendship, cyber chaordic concepts and organization and new open source processes and solutions.
