Ingenia Communications Corporation was a Canadian internet technology company incubated at the Carleton University Faculty of Engineering and Design in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Ingenia became known on the world stage for supporting the development of Canada's SchoolNet and earned praise from technology leaders including Bill Gates. President Karen Kostaszek received national recognition with a 1995 Caldwell Partners Top 40 Under 40 Award. In 1997 Ingenia encountered leadership, strategic, and financial difficulties, and the company was acquired by Software Kinetics through a deal that was initially described as a merger of two successful companies, until an Ottawa Citizen investigation revealed that Ingenia had narrowly avoided bankruptcy via the acquisition. Software Kinetics was then taken over by Xwave Solutions, which was acquired by Bell Canada in 2010. |
