Information Science Institute of Sripatum University (ISIS) is a service delivery unit of Sripatum University. ISIS aims at providing graduate education at the level of master and doctoral degrees while conducting advanced research in information technology emphasizing the application aspect of IT in business and industry. ISIS is particularly interested in applying IT to improve the competitiveness of Thailand business and industry by creating innovative applications and systems, and building a skilled workforce in information technology. Missions ISIS has four main missions. * Providing graduate education to strengthen Thailand’s * Conducting research and development to create innovative products and services * Providing consulting services so as to. * Offering training and seminars for building Thailand’s manpower capacity. Members of technical staff Members of ISIS consist of researchers, doctoral advisors and technical supports, organized in the following ways. Organization structure ISIS has 6 operating divisions as follows. * The Center for Advanced Graduate Studies in IT (CAGSIT) * Research and Development Division (RAD) * Academic Services Division (ASD) * Seminar and Training Division (STD) * Director’s Office * Technology Licensing and Venture Division (TLV) The Center for Advanced Graduate IT Studies The main responsibility of CAGSITS is to provide graduate educations. Currently, there are four graduate programs under ISIS. * Master of Science, Information Technology (MS.IT) * Master of Science, Computer Information System (MS.CIS) * Master of Science, Software Engineering (MS .SE) * Doctor of Philosophy Program in Information Technology (PhD IT) ISIS Research and Development Division The research and development (R&D) operation is one of the critical components of ISIS’s operation. The researchers comprise of ISIS‘s faculty and 40 doctoral students in information technology. There are 6 research groups and 7 labs. ;Web Technology Group The web technology group runs the Web Innovation Lab, and works to integrate various technologies to create the next generation applications based on semantic technology and ontology. The current research areas are next generation social web, personalization technology, and zero-switching time multi-video streaming in mobile environment, web analytic intelligence, and web accessibility. ;ICT Security Group Computer security is always a fruitful area for conducting research. ISIS’s efforts will center around the Cyber-security Lab. As of 2011, the lab is working on the methodology for penetration testing, trust models, and intrusion detection with extended coverage. ;Software Engineering Group The software engineering Group runs the Software Engineering Lab. The current research thrusts are in the domain of quality assurance for e-learning, the design automation of near field communication software, the software development for the cloud environment and the engineering of mobile phone software. ;Learning Technology Group The Learning Technology Group runs the Learning Innovation Technology Lab and concentrates on the research of applying software agent to perform various tasks that aid human learning processes. The current efforts are software agents for e-government system that can guide the novice citizen to complete the tasks required by the e-services, and software agents for tutoring students Also, this group investigate the next generation of e-learning that combines both synchronous asynchronous and collaborative learning. ;Software and Media Group The effort of this group will be focused on the Interactive Media Lab. The specific eco system IML uses are Apple platform. One of our research directions is to create environments for the interaction of phone and iPad on a virtual distributed space. ;Entertainment and Sport Technology Group The entertainment and sport technology group focuses the effort on creating real-virtual objects interaction. ;ICT Application Group ICT is the enabling technology that can be applied to all areas of human endeavors. The ICT application group currently focuses on two specific labs. The Center for Agri-IT development will drive the productivity and commerce of Thai farmer. The Center’s flagship project is the e-Farmer in which a value chain is built to support and ensure that Thai farmer will get fair shares of their work. The other lab, Sripatum Fab Lab is for applying the computer and design technology to improve and/or build commercializable products. This group runs the Center for Agri-IT Development, and the Sripatum Fab Lab. ISIS Academic Service Division The consulting service division provides consulting services to public and private sectors. Training and Seminar Division The main responsibility of Seminar and Training Division is to provide advanced training and seminar services to both Thai and expat community in Thailand. Also, some courses will be marketed to the regional audiences. Main Training Programs ;Software Developer Program (SDP) SDP is for training software developers using Java, Objective-C, , and the design tools such as Visual Studio, , Eclipse. Ecosystem-specific training will be offered. ;Multimedia Study Program (MSP) MSP is for developing media developer. The courses offered spanning graphic design to flash, 2D animation to 3D animation. ;New Technology Service (NTS) NTS provides training in latest technology such as HTML5, cloud computing, and gesture interaction. Also, a series of fab lab related courses will also offered including Grasshopper and Rhino Fab-lab courses ;Business, Innovation and Creative Economy Seminar and Training (BICE) BICE will offer courses in business management and innovation training for creative entrepreneurs, and related courses to teach how commercialization can occur successfully. Director’s Office Division The operation of ISIS is supported by the Director’s office. DOD consists of three departments: the graduate education support department which supports the educational services and the recruitment of new students, the project support department which monitors the projects in the R and D division and the consulting service division, and the business intelligence division which monitors the vital statistics of business and industries as relevant to ISIS’s operations. Technology Licensing and Venture Division (TLV) ;Licensing The LV department is responsible for commercialization of ISIS‘s intellectual properties as well is ISIS’s partners’ licensing requirements. The licensing is one of the key components of having successful commercial operations in this creative economy era. ;Venture The LV department is also responsible for setting up venture companies from the IP owned by ISIS or the IP from ISIS’s partners. ISIS would provide strong systematic support to increase the chance of the ventures to be successful. ISIS would work with OSMEP, NSTDA, NECTEC, and NIA in soliciting additional funding to develop the products and bring the product to market.
