Indie Bandung

Indie Bandung is an indie music community in Indonesia. In Indonesia, especially Bandung and Jakarta, new era for indie music movement starts at 90's, when artist such as PAS Band, Pure Saturday, Puppen, Burgerkill, Waiting Room, Toilet Sound, Pestolaer, Rumahsakit, and Mocca performing in public venue.
The historical venue in Jakarta, Poster Cafe, GOR Bulungan, and Bandung, Lapangan Saparua.
In 1994, Studio Reverse and their record label 40.1.24, release Masa Indah Banget Sekali Pisan album for underground music. And pop music in 1995 Pure Saturday, their album Kosong released independently.
The next era in 2000, records label begin to release their album compilation featuring indie bands. In Jakarta, Aksara with JKT: SKRG featuring Sore, C'mon Lennon, and also The Upstairs. In Bandung, FFWD Records helped Mocca to go international.
Mocca's album My Diary in 2002 successfully sold their album to break the over 100,000 copies. Mocca success then had an impact on indie bands in Indonesia.
Aksara with their debut success as a label, in 2005 release the theme song for the teen comedy film Janji Joni.
Technology advances, world wide access, MySpace give more impact for indie movement. Including local web, like www.indiebandung.com and Death Rock Star launched in 2004.
FFWD with their community and the famous gigs La Viola in CCF Bandung make a big effort to and assists new bands, like The S.I.G.I.T, Bangkutaman, Rock N Roll Mafia, Homogenic to shows.
The role of the all elements for indie movement and attractive the event organizer to make a big event or festival sponsored by large companies.
And the unforgettable history of the indie community in Indonesia is a tragedy AACC in February 2008.
