.
Event Types
Club Racing
IMG sanctions Sprint races and Endurance races on permanent road course-type racetracks. Competitors must hold an Competition Race License from IMG or a recognized major sanctioning body to participate in club racing events. Typical competitor cars include production-based touring cars and purpose-built "sports racer" type cars of various makes and models.
IMG events are notable for their strict no-contact policy, which applies to race events as well as their Drivers Education and Time Trial events. Car-to-car contact is strictly prohibited, and activities such as bump drafting commonly seen in Stock car racing are penalized. The organization cites "clean racing" and affordability for its participants as reasons for these stringent regulations.
Time Trials
IMG also holds Time Trial competition on dedicated racetracks. Unlike in club racing where drivers compete for track position, Time Trial competitors compete for the fastest time of day in their class. Due to the lower risk of contact and on-track incidents, time trial cars are not required to have roll cages and fire extinguishers.
High Performance Drivers Education
IMG events include a High Performance Drivers Education driving school for drivers to safely learn the limits of their street or race vehicles on a dedicated racetrack. This program is open to any driver with a state driver's license, a safe street or race car, and a Snell Certified helmet.
