East Grinstead Cycling Club

East Grinstead Cycling Club is a cycling club based in East Grinstead, West Sussex, England. The club was formed in 1950, initially as a touring club, however members quickly discovered racing with the club eventually being known as 'premier' club in Sussex. Many well known names have passed through its ranks, including Brian Phillips, Stephen Elms, Steven Dennis and, most notably, Tour de France Yellow jersey wearer Sean Yates.
The club still enjoys success today with regular wins in road time trials and road races. Members also compete in mountain bike, cyclo-cross and randonee and reliability-trial events. It maintains a reputation for well run events and promotes open races as well as a summer-long programe of evening competitions. Throughout the winter, the club members meet for Sunday club rides and fun events such as the annual free-wheeling competition.
