In the Fur

In the Fur is a Pop/Alternative Indie Rock band from the Philadelphia area.

Biography
Early Days
Founded in 2003 by Randy Goodman, Christopher Norris, and James Billington, In the Fur has played Philadelphia area venues, including the Trocadero Theater, the Grape Street, The Khyber, and more. In the Fur released their first album, "Magnificent Designs", in the U.S. on September 9, 2006. The album was recorded in split sessions at the Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, New York along with producers Charlie Brocco and Ken Coomer. The other half was recorded at Metropolitan Studio (aka Ruff Nation) in Bryn Mawr, Pa., produced by Walt Bass and In the Fur.
Tours
On Saturday, September 9, 2006, In the Fur performed live at the Trocadero. It was in celebration of their U.S. release of the album. In 2006, In the Fur promoted their album in the U.K.

“The tour,” James said during a radio interview, “was completely MySpace...MySpace is awesome.” In the Fur was accompanied by Gary Glaser on this tour. The only known pictures of him on the tour are in videos. In November 2006, the band played a show at Cabrini College. It was followed with a radio interview.

Again, in 2008, the band toured in Europe again to promote Magnificent Designs along with songs from their new album, to be produced by Jim Ebert.
Recent Events

After their recent tour of the U.K., the band has been recording at Metropolitan studios with producer Jim Ebert to record tracks for their unnamed sophomore album. The band has stated through myspace that it will be a "natural progression of their first album". The first single, "Black Leather", is currently streaming on the band's Myspace page.

Randy Goodman

The principle front man and writer for In the Fur, his imposing, glamorous, bean stock presence on the stage makes for a perfect mouthpiece for In the Fur. Ray Davies and David Bowie influences can be heard in his voice. His voice has also has been compared to that of David Byrne of the Talking Heads.

In concert, Randy usually plays a gold-top Gibson Les Paul.

Chris Norris
The youngest member of the band, Chris is charismatic and an excellent showman. He was previously the lead singer of the short-lived band, Spaceman Spiff. Originally the driver of (?), they would make their way from Maryland to rehearsals. Chris is a native of Frederick, Maryland.

In concert, Chris's instrument is a left-handed, red Epiphone Dot.

James Billington
Hailing from Northern California, then Texas, and residing currently in Audubon, New Jersey now, James landed with In The Fur while not really looking for another band. Considering himself more as a "band architect" than drummer, James uses his past experiences to guide the band mechanically and spiritually.

Before In the Fur, James worked in Tidewater Grain.

At this time, James works at the Cherry Hill Guitar Center's ProAudio Section.

Originally, the bass drum's head was a standard black "TAMA" head, but was later changed to reflect the band's signature "F" logo.

Bassist
Earlier in their career, the band had a session bassist come in to record their first album. The current bassist is Dan Miller, who is touring with the band recording their new album. It is unknown if he is an actual band member yet.
